The World Ethics Institute at Peking University is an independent research, teaching and service organization dedicated to improving the condition of the global community with particular emphasis on World Economic Ethics. It will develop synergistic effort to study, research, teach and improve humanistic values impact within Industry for highest effectively and fruitful interaction in the three symbolic universes of Cultural China and dialogues among civilizations.

The director of WEIB is Prof. Tu Weiming, Lifetime Professor of Philosophy and Dean of Institute for Advanced Humanistic Studies at Peking University and Research Professor and Senior Fellow of Asia Center at Harvard University, was born in February 1940 in Kunming, China. He grew up in Taiwan and obtained a B. A. in Chinese Studies at Tunghai University(1961). He received both his M. A. (1963) and Ph. D. (1968) from Harvard University. He has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences since 1988. He taught Chinese intellectual history,philosophies of China and Confucian studies at Tunghai University(1967-68), Princeton (1967-71), the University of California in Berkeley (1971-81), Peking University (1985), Taiwan University(1988), the Ecole des Haute Etudes in Paris (1989) and Harvard University (1981-2010).
